EDITION Residences Sales Center Officially Debuts
The $10 million state-of-the-art sales gallery for EDITION Residences Edgewater, the world hotel brand’s first standalone collection of fully serviced luxury condominium homes, has been unveiled by Two Road Development following the opening of sales late last year. Future homeowners will be able to immerse themselves in the EDITION-branded quality of design, lifestyle, services, and facilities that the project will bring to Miami’s Edgewater area.
At 2121 North Bayshore Drive, in the center of Edgewater, one of Miami’s most exclusive areas for luxury, waterfront high-rise living, you’ll find EDITION Residences, Miami Edgewater. With 185 custom units displayed in a sleek glass skyscraper created by visionary architect Bernardo Fort-Brescia, founder of Arquitectonica, and celebrated interiors by Studio Munge headed by Alessandro Munge, the 55-story structure will have more than 800 linear feet of bay frontage.
The EDITION Residences, Miami Edgewater are expected to be completed in 36 months, with construction set to start in the summer of 2023. More than $160 million in reservations with contract conversions are anticipated to start within the next month.
The official opening of the sales gallery, which is conveniently close to the EDITION Residences site at 2060 North Bayshore Drive, Ste. B-101, was celebrated on March 30, 2023. Many VIPs and A-listers, including Francis Suarez, the mayor of the City of Miami, and members of South Florida’s real estate elite, attended the extravagant event. DJ Ruckus gave a surpise performance at the unique event. The evening came to a close with an enthralling drone display that filled the Miami sky with vibrant images.
The sales gallery is meticulously designed, with neutral-colored furnishings, lush flora, and architecturally distinctive details placed all about the room. A virtual reality room that offers unrestricted views of Biscayne Bay, the Atlantic Ocean, Downtown Miami, and the Miami Beach skyline captures the essence of indoor-outdoor living. The sales center has a copy of the master bathroom, kitchen, and living area to show off the building’s spacious floorplans and cutting-edge features.
One-bedroom-plus-den to four-bedroom floorplans with sizes ranging from 1,952 to 3,864 square feet and starting at $1.9 million will be available in immaculately finished homes. Is Miami the ‘Best Food City of the Year’ in the Country? Bon Appétit Thinks So
Miami is experiencing a dining moment with its 11 Michelin-starred restaurants, renowned wine and food festival, multiple James Beard Award semi-finalists, and an average of one new restaurant opening every 15 seconds.
Now, another celebration is in order! Miami has been hailed as the “food city of the year” by Bon Appétit magazine in its most recent issue.
While editors toured the nation in search of daring new restaurants, they agreed that Miami was the one city they kept wanting to visit, according to editor-in-chief Dawn Davis.
According to Davis, “The always-evolving city is buzzing with opportunity, and a wave of creative chefs and restaurateurs have picked up on that air of possibility. It’s led to a spate of daring, exciting restaurants that are contributing to the city’s rich culinary history while bringing entirely new dimensions to the dining scene.”
Numerous popular eateries in Miami have been singled out by the magazine as “restaurants we fell for.” Itamae, a Peruvian-Japanese restaurant in Miami’s Design District that was recognized by the Michelin Guide as a Bib Gourmand (a restaurant that offers exceptional value) last year, came in first place on the list. The restaurant, which began as a seller in the previous St. Roch food hall, was where the magazine’s cover photo of seafood was taken which is now called MIA Market.
Other establishments applauded by Bon Appétit writers include Suite Habana Café in Wynwood, El Turco Turkish Restaurant in Upper Buena Vista, Rosie’s in Little River, a favorite for Southern brunch, Zak the Baker in Wynwood, Broken Shaker cocktail bar at the Freehand Hotel in Miami Beach, which was named one of the 50 best North American bars in 2022, Paradis Books & Bread wine bar and pizza restaurant in North Miami Beach, and Jaguar Sun in Miami.
In 2022, the Michelin guide also named El Turco and Zak the Baker as Bib Gourmands.
The magazine also gives Chef Sebastian Vargas accolades for opening Krüs Kitchen, a Bib Gourmand restaurant, and Los Félix, a Michelin-starred establishment, under one roof in Coconut Grove.
Former Miami Herald Waterfront Site in Downtown Miami Receives 5 Bids over $1 Billion
Following a marketing campaign managed by Avison Young’s Florida Capital Markets Group, Genting Group has received five offers above $1 billion for the former Miami Herald site in Downtown Miami, one of the biggest and most valuable development sites in Miami.
The property, which is located at 1431 N Bayshore Drive in Miami, has 800 linear feet of direct Biscayne Bay frontage and highly aggressive zoning in one of the city’s most vibrant and connected neighborhoods. It is regarded as the most sought-after development site offering in the history of the city and one of the largest waterfront land assemblages currently available in the United States. A notable mixed-use commercial, retail, residential, hospitality, and entertainment destination could be developed on the location.
The rare riverfront location in the Omni District is valued at just about $1.5 billion. The 15.5-acre development site, known as BayCity Miami, now hosts ArtMiami’s Art Wynwood show in February as well as CONTEXT Art Miami every year during Miami Art Week. The Miami Herald’s main office had stood on the land and was destroyed in 2014.
The Resorts World operator Genting Group, which owns 10 acres of land west of Biscayne Boulevard, will continue to be involved in the Omni neighborhood. Genting Group is one of the biggest resort, entertainment, and gambling organizations in the world.
The property, which spans many lots and once housed the Miami Herald’s headquarters, is zoned RTZ for mixed-use in Miami-Dade and is in the Metromover subzone (Rapid Transit Zone). The land has limitless buildable square footage, no setbacks, a height limited only by the FAA standards (649 feet), and a potential density of more than 8,000 units according to South Florida’s most benevolent zoning designation. The RTZ zoning offers builders a sizable, incredibly flexible building envelope as well as the chance to create a unique waterfront development on the site.
Major Food Group and Terra Development Partner on New Condo Tower in Edgewater-The Villa
Major Food Group and Terra Development have announced their collaboration on a new waterfront development in Edgewater. Located at 710 NE 29th Street, The Villa, is planned to include 50 residential units.
In 2021, an application was filed with the Federal Aviation Administration for a 57 to 60 story tower at the proposed development site. The plan originally called for the demolition of two residential structures that are now located at 710 Northeast 29th Street and 530 Northeast 29th Street, just across from the Biscayne Beach Condominium.
Unknown who applied for the tower, but the lot’s existing zoning allows for a considerably taller multi-family building comparable to nearby new construction like Missoni Baia and Elysee Miami, all of which reach heights of 649 feet above sea level.
Harbor 29, a five-story condominium building with 15 units that was constructed in 1972 and is currently located at 710 Northeast 29th Street, occupies a plot of land that is around 12,600 square feet. The building occupies the entire corner of the ensemble and has the longest waterfront frontage.
On the other hand, 530 Northeast 29th Street, a 2-story residential structure with around 10 units on a 6,300-square-foot lot, was constructed in 1954. No recent sales of any units or property in general have been closed, according to Miami-Dade County’s Property Appraiser, so after receiving FAA approvals, the undisclosed developer will probably need to buy out the current owners to put together the assemblage, which should total close to 19,000 square feet.
Last year, Major Food Group was partnered with JDS Development for a supertall tower located in Brickell named 888 Brickell.
Miami Beach’s Star Island is Now Ranked as the Nation’s Highest Priced Neighborhoods
Miami Beach’s exclusive Star Island has taken the top spot among the most expensive areas in the country, surpassing Port Royal in Naples, FL, Beverly Hill’s Gateway, and Trousdale Estates in Beverly Hills. In 2022, the price of the typical home sold on the island was $40.2 million, an increase of $16.7 million and 71% from 2019 when it was $23.5 million.
Ken Griffin, the founder of Citadel and a heavyweight in the hedge fund industry, has spent a total of $170 million over the past few years buying a collection of five houses on the island. Griffin made a big impression when he paid $75 million for a 1993 demolition on 1.8 acres at 8 Star Island Drive. At the time, the sale broke a record for Miami-Dade County single-family home sales, but Griffin is no stranger to shattering records.
Griffin also bought the nearby 10 Star Island for $25 million, 11 and 12 Star Island Drive for about $37 million, and 13 Star Island for $32.5 million in an off-market purchase. Also, he was the owner of 14 Star Island, which he acquired for $24 million in 2020 and reportedly traded for 13 Star Island for $18.5 million with former New York Yankee and real estate mogul Alex Rodriguez.
Griffin is not the only well-known investor who has bought and sold on the Island. Stuart Miller, the executive chairman of Lennar, paid $33 million for the old 4 and 5 Star Island Drive owned by Thomas Kramer, which marked the beginning of a protracted series of deals on the renowned island. With Todd Michael Glaser, Stuart Miller created an extravagant model home at 22 Star Island that was designed by DOMO Design and sold for $49.5 million in an off-market transaction managed by David Solomon and David Miller.
The owner of the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies, Robert Pera, purchased the 1.9-acre property next door from Miller in 2019 for $25 million. A contentious 28,000 SF seaside home with a basketball complex is being built by Pera. Marc Iacovelli sold the historic Carl Fisher estate at 46 Star Island Drive to Roger and Sloan Barnett for $39 million on the other side of 22 Star Island. On the island, Shay Kostiner recently sold his vacant lot at 44 Star Island for $10 million, while Anthony Hsieh, the founder and CEO of LoanDepot, just paid $30 million to purchase 34 Star Island Rive.
Just over the MacArthur Causeway from Fisher Island’s entrance and Miami Beach’s South of Fifth district, the gated Star Island has long been one of Miami’s most sought-after neighborhoods. The Army Corps of Engineers constructed the island in 1922 as part of a dredging project, and Carl Fisher turned it into an island for the affluent and well-known. Celebrities and billionaires like Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Philip Frost, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Alex Rodriguez, Stuart Miller, and Vladislav Doronin currently reside on the island.

Also, there are bars that provide speciality cocktails, beer, and wine.
The Miami Open moved to Hard Rock Stadium in 2019, bringing fans improved parking, more room, and a better experience, after 32 years at Crandon Park on Key Biscayne. Tennis fans can benefit from the same opulent accommodations that Miami Dolphins supporters are used to at football events. A 13,800-seat stadium, the stadium court, has 360-degree LED displays that enhance the viewing experience. On the outside courts, there is additional seating, including a Butch Buchholz Court with a 3,500-seat capacity. In other words, there is plenty of space to enjoy fantastic tennis.
Over the years, The Miami Open has featured matches between the top tennis players including Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer who played their first match against each other in Miami in 2004. We have also watched Serena Williams win a record eight singles titles in Miami. Hubert Hurkacz of Poland won his first Masters 1000 trophy at the competition in 2020.
Individual session tickets, mini-packages, and complete tournament packages are all available for purchase by attendees. You can purchase tickets online.
