A New Mediterranean Destination Arrives in Miami
Riviera Dining Group (RDG), one of Florida’s most influential hospitality collectives, has officially debuted its newest concept in Miami: AVA MediterrAegean in Coconut Grove. Opening November 22nd at 2889 McFarlane Road, the restaurant marks RDG’s fifth venue and serves as the brand’s flagship, expanding on the success of its beloved Winter Park outpost. Blending elevated Greek cuisine with modern Cycladic design, AVA brings a transportive Mediterranean atmosphere to one of Miami’s most historic and vibrant neighborhoods.
RDG’s Vision: A Modern Cycladic Agora
Led by RDG Founder & CEO Gregory Galy, AVA MediterrAegean reflects the group’s signature approach to luxury dining—where cuisine, design, and nightlife merge into a single immersive experience. The Coconut Grove flagship introduces AVA MM, a discreet members-only sanctuary offering unique programming, chef-driven dinners, curated tastings, rare wines, and intimate cultural activations. It is RDG’s fourth MM Members Club location, further expanding the group’s footprint across Florida’s elite dining scene.
Refined Greek Cuisine with a Modern Edge
The menu, crafted by RDG Partner and Head of Culinary Chef Michaël Michaelidis alongside Executive Chef Frédéric Aumeunier, draws inspiration from the Cycladic islands of Greece. Expect refined interpretations of coastal classics including Aegean Tuna Ceviche, Mediterranean Seabass Carpaccio, Chilean Seabass Kakavia, Lobster Pasta, and a dramatic 32oz Tomahawk. Signature large-format dishes—such as Branzino Spetziota and Prawns Kadaifi—celebrate AVA’s ethos of communal dining, while creative mezze, salads, and tableside preparations like Lamb Moussaka bring warmth and soul to the modern Mediterranean experience.
A Sculpted Space Inspired by the Greek Islands
Designed by acclaimed architect Lazaro Rosa-Violán, AVA Coconut Grove pairs Greek island minimalism with Miami’s bold energy. Natural materials—travertine, plaster, limestone, coral stone, and handcrafted ceramics—define the sculpted dining room and open-air terrace. Custom oak millwork, alabaster lighting, myth-inspired artwork, and a striking rainforest marble bar set the tone for an evening that feels both serene and spirited. Meanwhile, the members-only AVA MM enclave introduces a more intimate, bronze-accented environment with cigar lockers, bespoke design details, and soon a custom chopstick box cabinet for founding members.
RDG’s Continued Rise in Florida’s Dining Scene
With restaurants like MILA Miami, CASA NEOS, CLAUDIE, and AVA Winter Park already shaping Florida’s luxury dining culture, RDG’s expansion into Coconut Grove underscores its growing influence. The group continues to elevate Mediterranean hospitality with concepts that are as much destinations as they are dining experiences—each one thoughtfully curated, meticulously designed, and rooted in a philosophy of discovery and indulgence.

Le Specialità Opens in the Miami Design District, Bringing Milan’s Most Beloved Trattoria to the U.S.

Credit: Jason Varney
After nearly five decades defining the Milanese dining experience, Le Specialità has officially opened its first U.S. location in the heart of the Miami Design District. The celebrated Milan trattoria, founded in 1977 on Via Pietro Calvi, is known for its authentic Italian cooking, iconic pizza, and warm neighborhood spirit — now re-imagined under the creative direction of Spicy Hospitality Group (SHG), the same team behind The Joyce, one of South Beach’s most popular dining destinations.

From Milan to Miami: A Legacy of Simplicity and Excellence
Le Specialità’s philosophy has always been rooted in authenticity, seasonality, and the joy of genuine hospitality. Its Miami debut brings that same spirit to a new audience, bridging the timeless dining culture of Milan with the vibrant energy of Miami. Guests can expect a refined yet approachable menu of house-made pastas, fresh seafood, and meats — alongside the trattoria’s famed pizzas that have become a Milanese legend. Signature selections include the Margherita, Truffle Pizza, and Piccantissimi, topped with chili pepper pesto and pine nuts. The secondi showcase classic Italian preparations such as Branzino alla Siciliana, Dover Sole Meunière, and Veal Milanese, followed by elegant desserts like pistachio gelato and a traditional tiramisu layered with mascarpone mousse, espresso, and cocoa.

An Immersive Culinary and Artistic Experience
Designed by the award-winning Rockwell Group, Le Specialità’s interiors blend Milan’s radical design era of the 1960s and 1970s with Miami’s festive color and warmth. The result is a space that feels glamorous yet unpretentious, defined by sweeping curves, terrazzo floors, bold geometries, and a glowing green lavastone bar.
Founder Andre Sakhai curated an art collection that includes works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, KAWS, Takashi Murakami, Rashid Johnson, and others, alongside vintage Italian photography — a visual bridge between Milan’s creative soul and Miami’s contemporary energy.

Wine and Cocktail Program
The beverage program features a 260-label wine list focused on Italy’s top regions, with rare vintages from Burgundy and Bordeaux — including Le Pin 1990, Pétrus 1986, and Pavie 1952. Signature cocktails like the Milano Mai Tai, Fragola Basilico, and Espresso Italiano complement the menu’s coastal Italian flavors.

A Perfect Fit for the Design District
Located at 40 NE 41st Street, Le Specialità joins a growing list of destination restaurants redefining the Miami Design District dining scene — an area where art, fashion, and food converge.
“Bringing Le Specialità to the U.S. marks a major milestone for Spicy Hospitality Group,” said Andre Sakhai, Principal & Founder of Spicy Hospitality Group. “The restaurant has long been a cornerstone of Milan’s dining culture, and the Miami Design District is the ideal setting for its American debut, reflecting our vision to build a collection of restaurants that embody the creativity, ambition, and energy of this city.”
David Rockwell, Founder and President of Rockwell Group, added: “The design concept for Le Specialità blends the bold, playful, and artistic spirit of Milan in the 1960s and ’70s with the rich, dynamic, and festive culture of present-day Miami. Sweeping curves and oversized graphic elements define each space in the restaurant.”

A New Era for Spicy Hospitality Group
Le Specialità marks another milestone for Spicy Hospitality Group, which continues to expand its presence in Miami following the success of The Joyce in South Beach.
Following Le Specialità’s opening, SHG will next debut Oniku Karyu and Yasu in the coming weeks, further cementing its footprint in Miami and underscoring the group’s momentum as one of the most exciting and creative new forces in hospitality today.

Located on the ground floor directly beneath Maple & Ash, Eight Bar Miami promises an elevated yet approachable dining experience that blends sophistication with a lively social energy.
A Celebrated Concept Arrives in Miami
The Eight Bar brand has built a strong following in Chicago, where it operates beneath Maple & Ash on Maple Street. Known for its effortlessly stylish ambiance, creative cocktails, and a menu that merges raw bar favorites with steakhouse classics, the concept strikes a balance between upscale and casual. The Miami location marks Eight Bar’s second venue, signaling the beginning of a larger expansion for the Maple Hospitality Group.
What Makes Eight Bar So Popular
Eight Bar has earned its reputation by offering high-quality dining in an atmosphere that feels both relaxed and refined. Guests love the balance of bold flavors, exceptional service, and the sense of place it creates — perfect for everything from a martini-fueled lunch to a lively night out. In Chicago, the restaurant attracts a vibrant mix of locals and visitors drawn by its energy, late-night hours, and beautiful design. It takes the prestige of Maple & Ash and adds a playful, approachable twist, creating a spot where you can unwind without sacrificing luxury.
The Miami Experience
The new Miami outpost takes inspiration from its Chicago predecessor but introduces a distinctly South Florida flair. The design shifts seamlessly from day to night — tropical and sunlit during the afternoon, then sleek and sultry after dark. Eight Bar Miami will serve as both a pre-dinner gathering spot for guests dining upstairs at Maple & Ash and a destination all its own for locals and visitors seeking a high-energy raw bar and cocktail scene.
The Menu
Eight Bar Miami’s menu will showcase an enticing mix of sushi, raw bar selections, Wagyu burgers, and shareable seafood dishes, all complemented by craft cocktails and curated wines. Guests can expect everything from beautifully plated oysters and sashimi to indulgent steakhouse-style plates and crave-worthy comfort food. The restaurant will also offer a happy hour from 4 to 6 PM, featuring select bites and drinks in a vibrant yet laid-back setting.
Hours and Location
Eight Bar Miami will be open Thursday through Sunday, with hours from 4 PM to 10 PM on Thursdays and Sundays, and until 11 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant is located at 699 NE 1st Avenue, Miami, FL 33132, within the Miami Worldcenter complex. The space sits directly beneath Maple & Ash, offering a more casual yet equally refined experience in the same building.
Why It’s a Big Deal for Miami
The arrival of Eight Bar marks another milestone in the ongoing transformation of Park West Miami into a world-class culinary hub. It brings with it the pedigree of Maple & Ash’s award-winning hospitality team and the two-Michelin-star background of Chef Danny Grant, ensuring the experience will be as polished as it is enjoyable. For Miami’s discerning diners, Eight Bar offers something new — a space that’s as inviting for cocktails and conversation as it is for a full meal.
The Bottom Line
With its mix of raw bar elegance, sushi craftsmanship, and modern steakhouse comfort, Eight Bar Miami is poised to become one of downtown’s most exciting openings of the year. The concept’s Chicago roots, its connection to Maple & Ash, and its stunning new home at Miami Worldcenter all point toward an opening that will capture the city’s attention. Whether you’re planning a casual happy hour, a late-night gathering, or simply looking for your new favorite dining spot, Eight Bar Miami promises to deliver an experience that’s bold, social, and unmistakably stylish.
Chop Steakhouse & Bar Opens First U.S. Location in Coconut Grove Miami This June
Miami’s dining scene is about to get a flavorful upgrade as Chop Steakhouse & Bar, one of Canada’s most beloved steakhouse brands, opens its first U.S. location this June in the heart of Coconut Grove. Taking over the iconic 10,000-square-foot space at 3015 Grand Avenue in CocoWalk—previously home to The Key Club—Chop is set to redefine what a steakhouse experience looks and feels like in South Florida.
Rather than embracing the traditional dark woods and cigar lounge aesthetic, Chop is going for something lighter, livelier, and unmistakably Miami. With an expansive island bar, stylish covered patio, and private dining options, the restaurant aims to deliver elevated hospitality without the fuss. “This isn’t your grandfather’s steakhouse,” says Tyler Jones, general manager of the Coconut Grove location. “We’re premium without being pretentious.”
True to its roots, Chop’s menu features a lineup of USDA Prime steaks, including a 32-ounce Tomahawk and melt-in-your-mouth tenderloin medallions. But meat-lovers aren’t the only ones in for a treat. The menu also highlights seafood-forward dishes like ahi tuna tataki, miso-glazed sea bass, and freshly shucked oysters, along with creative vegetarian-friendly options such as wild mushroom risotto.
For a more casual bite, diners can enjoy a Chop Burger topped with smoked cheddar and garlic aioli, a chicken avocado BLT, or the health-conscious Mediterranean Bowl. House-made desserts like pineapple upside-down cake and chocolate mousse round out the menu.
The bar program is equally impressive, with signature drinks like the Truffle Martini and Clase Azul Negroni, alongside a curated wine list and a selection of local beers on tap. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m., offering deals like $5 drafts, $10 wines, $12 cocktails, $2 oysters, and flavorful small plates such as chili garlic shrimp and bruschetta. Wine lovers will appreciate Tuesday wine nights, with bottles offered at half price.
Backed by the same hospitality group that introduced Moxies to the U.S., Chop Coconut Grove is designed for flexibility—ideal for everything from brunch and lunch meetings to celebratory dinners and after-hours cocktails. “We saw a gap in the Grove for something that checked all those boxes,” adds Jones. “Chop is that place.”
Cactus Club Cafe to Debut in Downtown Miami in Late 2025, Bringing Its Signature Style and Elevated Dining Experience to Florida

Cactus Club Cafe, the renowned Canadian hospitality brand known for redefining modern dining, is making its long-anticipated entrance into the Florida market with a flagship location slated to open in Vvi in late 2025. The upcoming Miami outpost will mark the 35th location for the brand and its first in the state, joining its expanding U.S. presence alongside forthcoming launches in Boston and Houston.
Set within the prestigious Citigroup Center—an 810,000-square-foot, 34-story tower at the intersection of Biscayne Boulevard and Southeast 2nd Street—the new venue promises an unrivaled setting. Offering sweeping views of Biscayne Bay and direct access to Bayfront Park, the location positions Cactus Club Cafe as a dynamic new culinary destination in the heart of Miami’s urban core.
“Miami’s rhythm and sophistication align beautifully with our vision of accessible yet elevated dining,” noted Andrew Latchford, President of Cactus Club Cafe. “As we continue our U.S. expansion, the energy and vibrancy of Miami present a perfect match for our brand.”
Citigroup Center representatives echoed this enthusiasm. “Cactus Club Cafe will be a major enhancement to our property’s amenity mix,” shared Ana Castro, General Manager of the Citigroup Center. “Their presence will enrich the dining landscape for our tenants and attract food lovers from across the city.”
Known for its sleek, design-forward interiors and upbeat, approachable atmosphere, Cactus Club Cafe blends stylish social dining with chef-driven cuisine. Executive Chef Greg McCallum and the brand’s in-house Test Kitchen lead the culinary program, crafting a menu that delivers bold flavors and innovative twists on comfort classics—all designed to feel fresh yet familiar.
“This launch is more than a new opening—it’s the start of something special,” said Brendon Sequeira, Regional Manager of Cactus Club Cafe Miami. “We’re building an incredible team here in Florida, and we’re looking for passionate individuals eager to be a part of this journey.”
