Miami welcomes JSX, a “hop on jet service” with crowd-free flights on private planes. With JSX’s announcement comes all the special privileges of a private jet without the hefty price tag.

Their East Coast routes will link Miami International Airport to New York and Texas with flights beginning November 18th. Fares from Miami to Westchester County, New York start at $749 one way, and Miami to Dallas start at $499 one way.

The best part of JSX flights is that they offer guests the ability to check-in for flights 20 minutes prior to departure between private terminals at Miami International Airport. Not only do they have a quick check-in, but there are also no crowds and 30-seat jets with business class legroom. JSX also offers two free checked bags, free snacks, and drinks.

According to the CEO of JSX, Alex Wilcox, “Since day one, our Customers have asked JSX to serve the East Coast and I am thrilled to say that our distinctive style of flying has finally arrived. It’s no secret that demand from New York and Dallas to Florida is at an all-time high, and we are delighted to bring our hop-on jet service to these vibrant markets ahead of the busy holiday season.”

JSX created this flight experience for anyone who values their time and wants a world-class experience, from business travelers, first-class fliers, to families looking for quick flights.

JSX is the first and only carrier that links Westchester County to Miami International Airport and the first “uber-like” plane carrier linking Dallas to Miami. Welcome to flying redesigned!

Despite concerns of oversupply in the multifamily market, the developer of Miami Worldcenter has closed on an $89 million construction loan to finance the construction of their first multifamily tower, Seventh Street Apartments. The lending market has been tightening across the board over recent months for commercial real estate loans, but this project was able to secure financing due to its proximity to All Aboard Florida’s Miami Central Station.

The rental project will be just one section of the 27 acre project, which is slated for completion in 2018. When completed, it will comprise of two towers. The first, a 43 story tower with 450 rental apartments, followed by a second tower with 413 rental apartments. The first tower broke ground in June and construction recently went vertical. The construction loan closed December 19.

Great news, Downtowners! The People Mover, Metromover, Mover, or whatever you want to call it now moves until 2am on the weekends according to a press release by the Miami-Dade Transit System. They are also extending service for Metrorail effective this weekend. The press release reads:

“Starting Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, Miami-Dade County’s Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) will extend its Metrorail and Metromover service until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

The time adjustment was recently approved by the Board of County Commissioners during the September 22 budget meeting and will go into effect starting the last Friday and Saturday in October – just in time for the Halloween weekend.

Riders can now enjoy weekend nights on the town without having to worry about catching the last midnight train. Stay for that extra hour or two and let us take you home safely.

“Many of the businesses and residences that connect to our transit system are growing, in particular in the downtown Miami and Brickell areas,” said Alice N. Bravo, P.E., Director of DTPW.

“By extending our service hours, we are supporting this significant economic growth, and are providing a clean, safe, and convenient transit option for the hundreds of residents who live, work and play near our Metrorail and Metromover stations.”

Bravo, Miami!

Miami-Dade Transit unveiled Florida’s first air-conditioned bus shelter because of, well, Dubai. At the unveiling ceremony yesterday Mayor Gimenez quipped “When Alice [Bravo, head of MDT] told me there were air-conditioned bus shelters in Dubai, I said we need those in Miami-Dade County,” an anecdote that he probably thinks is super cute but a lot of people could easily mock.

Located at the Hialeah Metrorail Station, because it’s the transit stop frequented by the most old people, (measured by free ‘Golden Passport’ usage) again according to Gimenez, there will be at “at least thirty of these” placed around Miami-Dade County. That means lots of people could get the relief, and comfort, of not having to sit out and wait for the bus in the insanely sweltering Miami heat. “The more people are comfortable, the more they will use mass transit” says Mayor Gimenez.
