World-renowned architect Zaha Hadid’s former W South Beach condo was just sold, AGAIN at $6 million.

Data reveals M. Reada “Ray” Bassiouni was the seller of the combined units 726, 728, and 730 at 2201 Collins Avenue, which was acquired by Thomas Robert and his wife Ann Chan, the owner of the security firm ATI Systems in Boston is Bassiouni. In Ponte Vedra Beach, Robert is the owner of GC Land Development LLC.

Records show that Bassiouni paid $5.8 million for the condo in 2018. The combined units feature 2,541 square feet of living space with three bedrooms and four bathrooms.

Since asking $8 million for the condo in March 2021, Bassiouni has intermittently offered it on the market. According to the Multiple Listing Service, the unit only brought in roughly $500,000 more than its previous asking price of $6.5 million.

Hadid designed the makeover herself after purchasing the apartments for $4.2 million in separate purchases over a five-year period. The Riverside Museum in Glasgow, the London Aquatics Centre for the 2012 Olympics, and Galaxy SOHO in Beijing were all designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning architect. When she passed away in Miami Beach in 2016, she was supervising the development of the Miami apartment complex One Thousand Museum that she had designed.

Zaha Hadid’s Personal Beachfront Residence To Come Back To Market

Zaha Hadid Miami Beach Home

After nearly a year on the market, Zaha Hadid’s customized home in South Beach’s W Hotel is going to be re-listed with an enormous price reduction. It had been listed after her sudden and untimely death in the Spring of 2016 for $10 million, but there were no takers.

It hasn’t officially been re-listed yet, but the Wall Street Journal has reported that it will be coming back on the market at $6.5 million, a 35% reduction from the original price. Neither price included the furnishings, but most pieces could be negotiated separately through her estate trustee. There are a few pieces of artwork/exceptionally unique pieces that the estate prefers to hold on to.

The Pritzker Prize-winning starchitect purchased two beachfront units at the W, which is located between The Setai and Faena House at 22nd Street on Miami Beach, in 2010 for $2,785,000. She then combined them and added her unmistakable personal touch.

While I imagine there will be a new set of photos unveiled any day now, let’s have a peek at the listing photos from last year..

Live Like Zaha: Zaha Hadid’s Personal Residence Hits The Market

Zaha Hadid Residence

If you are an internationally acclaimed starchitect and the first woman to win the Pritzker Prize in architecture, you do not live in a normal condo. You take a condo in a great building with a phenomenal view and you redesign the whole thing so that every room emulates your style and brilliance.

That is what happened to Apartment 730 at the W South Beach. In 2010, Zaha Hadid purchased two apartments for $2,785,000 and combined them. She took out virtually all of the walls so that the view would not be obstructed and finished it off with her own fabulosity. Now that she has sadly passed, her estate has placed the apartment on the market for $10 million. Let’s take a gander at the MLS photos and see how one of the greatest architects of our time lived.
