Star Island Miami History:
Star Island was completed in 1922. It was formed by the sand dredging of the Army Corps of Engineers. The land for what would be known as Star Island was originally owned by American entrepreneur and developer, Carl Fisher, who purchased it along with what would become the city of Miami Beach. Fisher played a major role in the Florida land boom of the 1920s. By 1926, Carl Fisher was estimated to be worth $100 million.
