A New Tokyo-Inspired Speakeasy Joins South Beach’s Luxe Hospitality Scene

A new layer of intrigue and luxury is coming to Miami Beach. The h.wood Group—the celebrity-favorite hospitality brand behind culturally influential dining and nightlife concepts across Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and global markets—has announced plans to open a hidden cocktail lounge inside RIVANI Miami Beach. The Tokyo-inspired speakeasy will launch as part of Robert Rivani’s $100 million flagship office redevelopment, further elevating the building’s already world-class amenity collection.

A Secret, Design-Forward Escape in the Heart of RIVANI

Situated on the third-floor amenity level, the intimate lounge will be tucked behind a concealed access door, creating an immersive, transportive experience for guests. The design draws inspiration from the under-the-radar cocktail lounges of mid-century Japan, complete with warm ambient lighting, vintage textures, and curated vinyl that evokes the charm of the Shōwa era.

The h.wood Group Co-Founders Brian Toll and John Terzian describe the venue as intentionally intimate and atmospheric: “Hidden within RIVANI Miami Beach, the concept is crafted to feel like a discovery—intimate, effortless, and made for long nights that turn into mornings. For us, great spaces are driven by atmosphere and connection, and this one captures both through a distinctly Miami lens.”

Elevated Hospitality for RIVANI Tenants

Expected to open in Summer 2026, the speakeasy will serve handcrafted cocktails and elevated small plates in a design-forward space available exclusively to tenants of RIVANI Miami Beach. The lounge will offer private access for tenant events and gatherings, as well as dedicated keyed lockers for storing personal spirits collections—introducing a new level of hospitality, privacy, and convenience to the modern workplace.

Robert Rivani’s Vision for Transforming Office Culture

The hidden cocktail bar reflects Robert Rivani’s continued push to redefine how people work, socialize, and entertain within office environments. As Rivani explains, “We are giving our tenants the ability to entertain like they’re at a private members club in Tokyo, right here in Miami Beach. The h.wood Group has mastered the art of creating spaces that people remember, and bringing their energy and hospitality experience to RIVANI Miami Beach perfectly complements our vision to create environments that redefine how people work, play, and live.”

This collaboration marks the latest milestone for RIVANI Miami Beach, building on recent headlines such as Playboy Enterprises signing on as anchor tenant for its new global headquarters. Designed by the award-winning Rockwell Group, the redevelopment introduces a new Class X standard to South Beach, with amenities including a full-service concierge, valet, Monarch Athletic Club fitness and wellness center, private event venues, and now the h.wood-operated speakeasy.

With its blend of high design, curated experiences, and members-only exclusivity, the hidden cocktail lounge adds yet another world-class feature to one of Miami Beach’s most ambitious commercial transformations. Ken Griffin to Develop a Private Superyacht Marina on Miami Beach’s Terminal Island

A Major New Waterfront Project by One of America’s Wealthiest Investors

Billionaire hedge-fund founder Ken Griffin has received approval to develop a private superyacht marina on Miami Beach’s Terminal Island, adding yet another landmark project to his expanding South Florida footprint. The marina—intended exclusively for Griffin, his vessels, and his guests—marks one of the most unique and high-end waterfront developments undertaken in Miami Beach in recent years.

What the Marina Will Include

According to city planning documents, the approximately 3.7-acre site will be transformed into a highly specialized, ultra-private maritime facility. Plans call for roughly six deep-water slips capable of accommodating large superyachts, including vessels exceeding 300 feet. The design includes multiple purpose-built structures: a gatehouse with security offices, a crew pavilion with gym, sauna, and rooftop pool, an operations building with repair shop and staff offices, and a luxury owner’s pavilion featuring its own pool, lounge, and entertainment spaces. The total built program is expected to exceed 30,000 square feet.

City Approval and Conditions

The Miami Beach Planning Board granted the necessary conditional use permit, though with several required stipulations. Any special events held on-site will require coordination with the U.S. Coast Guard due to the marina’s proximity to major maritime operations. All parking must remain self-contained on Terminal Island, ensuring no spillover into surrounding neighborhoods. And should the marina ever change ownership, the new owner must return to the board for review. Approval represents a significant milestone for Griffin, whose development plans continue to reshape parts of Miami and Miami Beach.

Why Terminal Island Is a Strategic Choice

Terminal Island sits between South Beach and PortMiami, offering rare deep-water access and maritime infrastructure capable of supporting the world’s largest private yachts. Few waterfront parcels in Miami Beach can accommodate this scale of vessel operations. The site’s location near the cruise port, MacArthur Causeway, and major shipping channels further elevates its appeal. As marine experts noted in early reporting, the site benefits from exceptional depth and maneuverability—qualities that are increasingly scarce in Miami’s built-out waterfront.

Impact on Miami’s Luxury Landscape

Griffin’s move signals a continued deepening of investment in Miami following the relocation of Citadel and Citadel Securities to the city. Beyond his corporate presence, Griffin has been actively acquiring prime land in both Miami Beach and Brickell, including the site of what is slated to become one of Miami’s tallest office towers. This private marina further underscores Miami’s growing traction as a global hub for ultra-luxury yachting, complementing the region’s expanding ecosystem of high-net-worth residents, large-scale events, and bespoke services.

A New Chapter for Terminal Island

Historically an industrial and logistics zone, Terminal Island is now seeing renewed interest from private and institutional investors. Griffin’s marina is poised to set a new benchmark for exclusivity and design, transforming a utilitarian waterfront into a prestigious amenity for one of the world’s wealthiest individuals. As construction progresses, the project is expected to bring heightened attention to Miami Beach’s limited deep-water inventory and its future potential.

After nearly five decades defining the Milanese dining experience, Le Specialità has officially opened its first U.S. location in the heart of the Miami Design District. The celebrated Milan trattoria, founded in 1977 on Via Pietro Calvi, is known for its authentic Italian cooking, iconic pizza, and warm neighborhood spirit — now re-imagined under the creative direction of Spicy Hospitality Group (SHG), the same team behind The Joyce, one of South Beach’s most popular dining destinations.

From Milan to Miami: A Legacy of Simplicity and Excellence

Le Specialità’s philosophy has always been rooted in authenticity, seasonality, and the joy of genuine hospitality. Its Miami debut brings that same spirit to a new audience, bridging the timeless dining culture of Milan with the vibrant energy of Miami. Guests can expect a refined yet approachable menu of house-made pastas, fresh seafood, and meats — alongside the trattoria’s famed pizzas that have become a Milanese legend. Signature selections include the Margherita, Truffle Pizza, and Piccantissimi, topped with chili pepper pesto and pine nuts. The secondi showcase classic Italian preparations such as Branzino alla Siciliana, Dover Sole Meunière, and Veal Milanese, followed by elegant desserts like pistachio gelato and a traditional tiramisu layered with mascarpone mousse, espresso, and cocoa.

An Immersive Culinary and Artistic Experience

Designed by the award-winning Rockwell Group, Le Specialità’s interiors blend Milan’s radical design era of the 1960s and 1970s with Miami’s festive color and warmth. The result is a space that feels glamorous yet unpretentious, defined by sweeping curves, terrazzo floors, bold geometries, and a glowing green lavastone bar.

Founder Andre Sakhai curated an art collection that includes works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, KAWS, Takashi Murakami, Rashid Johnson, and others, alongside vintage Italian photography — a visual bridge between Milan’s creative soul and Miami’s contemporary energy.

“Bringing Le Specialità to the U.S. marks a major milestone for Spicy Hospitality Group,” said Andre Sakhai, Principal & Founder of Spicy Hospitality Group. “The restaurant has long been a cornerstone of Milan’s dining culture, and the Miami Design District is the ideal setting for its American debut, reflecting our vision to build a collection of restaurants that embody the creativity, ambition, and energy of this city.”

David Rockwell, Founder and President of Rockwell Group, added: “The design concept for Le Specialità blends the bold, playful, and artistic spirit of Milan in the 1960s and ’70s with the rich, dynamic, and festive culture of present-day Miami. Sweeping curves and oversized graphic elements define each space in the restaurant.”

Bagatelle Miami River Opens to the Public Friday, November 21

Bagatelle Miami River

Bagatelle Miami River

Bagatelle, the French-Mediterranean brand famed for its high-energy, joie-de-vivre dining style, is opening its waterfront outpost at 311 NW South River Drive. The grand opening to the public is slated for Friday, November 21, 2025, based on the venue’s first available reservations shown on the official SevenRooms booking page for Bagatelle Miami River.

Bagatelle’s own venue page now lists address, access by car or boat, contact info, and posted opening hours for the Miami River location—another strong indicator that service commencement is imminent.

Why Bagatelle is such a draw

Founded by Rémi Laba and Aymeric Clémente, Bagatelle blends upscale Mediterranean cuisine with a celebratory, Riviera-inspired atmosphere—think lively dinners that transition into a scene. The brand describes itself as bringing a “French Riviera luxury” spirit to each destination, which has helped cultivate a worldwide following.

Today, Bagatelle Group counts ~15 venues worldwide, with Miami River expanding the brand’s South Florida footprint alongside its established Miami South Beach location. Additional destinations span London, Dubai, St. Tropez, St. Barth, Tulum, Los Cabos, and more, with further openings planned.

Momentum on the Miami River dining scene

The Miami River continues to heat up with high-profile restaurant concepts:

  • Casa Neos debuted in June 2024, adding a multi-level restaurant, beach club, and rooftop to the riverfront lineup.
  • Habibi Miami opened in October 2024, bringing a French-Moroccan supper-club energy to the water’s edge.
  • Looking ahead, Call Me Gaby plans a two-story, ~8,500-square-foot outpost on the river, part of a broader wave of new leases and openings announced earlier this year.

What to expect at Bagatelle Miami River

Expect the brand’s signature Mediterranean-leaning menu and celebratory service culture—arrive by land or by boat, with valet and dock options available. With listed hours that include late-night service and weekend daytime slots, Bagatelle Miami River appears tailored for both lively dinners and long, social weekend sessions.

Bagatelle Miami River Reservations

Early demand is likely to be high. Reservations are now surfacing for Friday, November 21, which we’re treating as the public grand-opening date barring any last-minute changes by the operator. If you’re planning to go opening weekend, consider booking promptly.
