The developer of One Thousand Museum has released a series of drone videos, each taken from the building’s rooftop helipad. The videos tease the jaw-dropping views future residents of 1000 Museum will enjoy as their chopper arrives and departs from the 62-story tower.
Once completed, One Thousand Museum will boast the ONLY residential helipad on the East Coast. The ultra-luxury development will include an on-site travel concierge service from which residents will be able to reserve the helipad and book transport to and from a number of destinations such as the Miami International Airport, nearby Islands, and more. Good riddance to Miami traffic!
One Thousand Museum was designed by legendary architect Zaha Hadid, whose untimely death two years ago caught us all by surprise. With an architectural marvel like 1000 Museum gracing our Miami skyline, the heavens will be left wondering if the “H” atop the building was left to denote “helipad” or Hadid’s last mark on our city.
The Views from Atop the One Thousand Museum Helipad
For those who missed it on our Social Media Feed a few weeks ago, the Miami Condo Investments team was given a VIP tour of the recently finished helipad at One Thousand Museum. Once completed, One Thousand Museum will be the first residential tower in Miami to ever include a helipad. As you could imagine, at a height of 709 feet, the views from atop One Thousand Museum are phenomenal; too good not to share, so here you go:
One Thousand Museum Tops Off; Stunning New Renderings Released
Sky Lounge
On February 3, 2018, One Thousand Museum officially topped off, marking a major milestone not only for construction of the elaborate and intricately designed tower, but also for the city’s ever-expanding skyline. “We’re now one step closer to revealing Zaha Hadid’s forward-thinking design,” says co-developer Louis Birdman. “Even in its current state, the building already stands out as the most iconic architectural work on Miami’s skyline. We’re excited to have developed something so unique and special for Miami.”
The developers of One Thousand Museum will celebrate their milestone accomplishment this week with a private evening event on the rooftop of the Frost Science Museum, located across the street from the project. Attendees will enjoy unobstructed views of the tower, flowing champagne, and passed hors d’oeuvres.
The process of constructing One Thousand Museum has been arguably one of the world’s most challenging builds. According to a recent press release, “the project’s curved exoskeleton is comprised of 5,000 pieces of lightweight glass-fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) manufactured in and imported from Dubai. This is the first skyscraper in the world to utilize GFRC as a permanent formwork in the construction of the tower’s structure.”
While developer Louis Birdman had the foresight for One Thousand Museum and Pritzker Prize winning architect Zaha Hadid had the vision, general contracting firm Plaza Construction played an instrumental role in making both a reality. “This is a project that will not only enhance Miami’s skyline, but also redefine the standard of luxury for residential projects,” said Brad Meltzer, President of Plaza. “We do not shy away from challenging projects, as such we were immediately interested when we saw the overall complexity of the job. To date, the project team has faced some major tests, but the project has remained on schedule and we’re looking forward to the successful completion.” To learn more about the complexity of this groundbreaking process, make sure to watch “The Scorpion Tower” episode of Impossible Builds, a PBS documentary featuring 1000 Museum.
Now that the “heavy lifting” has been completed, it’s time for the building’s interior build-out to begin. For those who can’t wait to see the finished product, perhaps these newly released renderings will sate your appetite. Enjoy!

One Thousand Museum Has Reached Its Highest Elevation; Top-Off Right Around the Corner
One Thousand Museum has reached its highest elevation 1,137 days into construction. At 706-feet, the last permanent formwork exoskeleton column was set earlier today, according to ODP Architects’ Instagram account:
This of course means that top-off is right around the corner. Soon, the rooftop floor will be laid, which is where the building’s helipad will be located.
According to the countdown clock on the developer’s website, One Thousand Museum will be delivered on December 21, 2018.
When Will One Thousand Museum Be Completed?
As One Thousand Museum approaches top-off of its 62-story tower – a major milestone in the development process – some may begin to wonder when the project will be delivered. Well…wonder no more! We came across a countdown to completion clock which was recently added to the developer’s website. As of this writing, the timer shows that completion will be in 363 days, putting delivery of the 62-story ultra-lux tower shortly before Christmas 2018. And if all you want for Christmas is a condo at One Thousand Museum, you’re in luck. As of two months ago, 40% of the development’s 83 total units remained, including the $49M two-story penthouse.
One Thousand Museum Releases First Photos Of Model Residence
The preview residence at One Thousand Museum by Zaha Hadid Architects is complete! Rather than just building a sample kitchen and bathroom in the sales center (which they did as well), the developers fully finished and furnished an actual residence for buyers to tour. The building is still very much still under construction, it is set to top off later in the year, but the model residence feels like home.
We had the opportunity to tour the residence last month, although the furniture had not been delivered yet. Miami-based Brazilian furnishings brand, Artefacto, has now delivered and installed the furnishings and it looks MAGNIFICENT. They used Zaha’s futuristic taste with their signature Brazlian contemporary style. The home also touts an impressive art collection curated by Sarah Jane Bruce (SJB Fine Art Services) and Flavia Masetto (Flavia Masetto Fine Arts), according to the developer’s press release.
The 4,635 square feet half-floor residence is elegant and timeless using warm tones and clean lines to complement the building’s curvaceous architecture. The epitome of luxury, the four bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms are wrapped in floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bay and Museum Park, allowing for ample natural light throughout the day.
Sadly, the actual residence was purchased for $6.8 million, but there are similar layouts still available. Duplex town homes start from $12 million, half floor residences similar to the model range from $5.5 million to $7.5 million, full-floor residences from $18 million and the penthouse, which has its own helipad for $49 million.
Closings are expected to begin in late 2018.
One Thousand Museum Construction Update: Cladding Panels Have Arrived!
For those who are curious about how and when the exoskeleton on Zaha Hadid’s One Thousand Museum will be finished, your wait is over. The massive GRFC (glass fiber reinforced concrete) panels that will cover the exoskeleton have begun to arrive, according to developer Louis Birdman.
The panels are what will give a smooth curvaceous finish to the rough concrete structure, Birdman said in a Facebook post earlier today as he shared photos of the progress. “The process has started on level 8 and they will be working their way around the base of tower and up to level 15, then down the columns to the ground and after that they will start cladding the garage podium on the west, south and east elevations. Then they will finished with the installation of the massive 7 story architectural fins on the east and south elevations.”
It will take nearly 5,000 custom pieces of GFRC to create the signature curves, and they also serve as an additional protection to the building, in the even that Miami is visited by another hurricane. Adding to the challenge, all of the formwork has to be shipped to Miami from the supplier in Dubai.
Here is a quick video that details how GFRC is made. It was also used on the facade of a building in Miami’s Design District.
Inside One Thousand Museum by Zaha Hadid: A Construction Tour
Now that the vertical construction is nearly completed and the fully finished (albeit not furnished) model is open, we were invited for a hard hat tour of Zaha Hadid’s One Thousand Museum in Downtown Miami. After touring the finished model on level 17, which is a 4 bedroom plan that occupies half of the floor, we were also able to preview the views from the 50th floor. On this level, the apartments are 10,000+ square foot full-floor layouts but are still too much of a construction site to be able to preview the finishes.
The project is currently 60% sold, with remaining opportunities in the duplex town homes from $12 million, half floor residences with 4 bedrooms plus staff quarters for $5.5 million to $7.5 million, full-floor residences from $18 million and the penthouse, which has its own helipad for $49 million.

Zaha Hadid’s One Thousand Museum Featured In Upcoming Documentary “Impossible Builds”
A documentary is in the works for PBS and Discovery called “Impossible Builds,” and Zaha Hadid’s One Thousand Museum is being featured, according to an announcement from the developer. There will be only five projects in the world to be featured with the recurring theme of delving into the making of complex structures throughout the world.
One of the most unique features of the 62 story condominium tower is the 5,000 piece exoskeleton that is sourced from glass fiber reinforced concrete. The exoskeleton arrives in shipments from Dubai and installed onsite.
“It is an honor for the project to be spotlighted in this important documentary film,” said Louis Birdman, one of the co-developers for One Thousand Museum by Zaha Hadid Architects. “We could not think of a better way to immortalize the forward-thinking project to a global audience across continents through this important documentary.”
Other projects to be featured will include the thinnest skyscraper in New York City and a resort villa in Dubai. The documentary is set for completion in 2018 and will be broadcast to approximately two billion viewers worldwide, according to the production company.
The tower is currently just past the halfway point of vertical construction. When completed, it will reach 709 feet and is the only residential skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere that was designed by Zaha Hadid. Here are some of the latest construction photos.
