Miami Heat Victor Oladipo Just Sold his Miami Beach Property for $7.8 Million

All-Star NBA player Victor Oladipo, recently sold his Miami Beach property. According to records, Oladipo sold the non-waterfront mansion at 65 South Hibiscus Drive for $9 million, two years after purchasing it for a then-record $7.8 million.

In 2021, Oladipo had just become a member of the Miami Heat and had just purchased the 6,500-square-foot house. According to records, the house was built in 2020 and has seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and one half-bathroom. It covers 0.3 acres, which according to Hogan is unusual for Hibiscus Island. According to Hogan, the house contains a pool, two master bedrooms, and a separate guest house.

Oladipo paid a sum that, at the time, set a Miami Beach non-waterfront home record, but that record was quickly broken when the area’s housing market experienced a price increase due to increasing demand. When a Sunset Islands home sold for $12.5 million in 2022, it set the record for the most money ever paid for a non-waterfront residence in Miami Beach.

According to Hogan, the most recent sale sets a Hibiscus Island price record for non-waterfront properties. According to Redfin, Oladipo listed the home in June for $10 million.

Throughout his 10-year NBA career, the two-time All-Star has sustained numerous injuries. He was transferred from the Heat to the Thunder in July, however, there is some talk that he might be moved again, according to Hogan. According to the Bleacher Report, Oladipo filed a lawsuit against his longtime manager, James Henderson, in June, accusing him of stealing $1.3 million from Oladipo and investing it in a condo and a nightclub.

Hogan stated that Oladipo wants to keep a “home base” in the Miami area and wants a bigger yard for his daughter even though his basketball future is uncertain. According to Hogan, they have been looking at homes in Pinecrest, a well-known inland hub for NBA players, as well as Weston, Davie, Southwest Ranches, and Pinecrest.

According to public records, the top player for the Los Angeles Lakers and former Miami Heat purchased a luxury condo in Sunny Isles Beach at The Estates at Acqualina. James paid $9 million for the 43rd floor condo at Acqualiana. 

Akron, an Ohio-based business founded by James purchased the 2-story unit at 17909 Collins Avenue from the developer. This summer saw the completion of the north tower, which rises 49 stories tall and features 154 luxury condo units.

A 45,000 square foot luxury villa with an ice rink, bowling alley, and the Avra Miami Estiatorio restaurant will be delivered as part of Estates at Acqualina later this year. The late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld created the lobbies in both skyscrapers.

The acquisition signifies James’ return to South Florida as one of the greatest basketball players in history. James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh made up the “Big Three” while they were all members of the Heat from 2010 to 2014. 

In 2015, he sold his waterfront residence in Miami’s Coconut Grove district for $13.4 million. James sold one of his Los Angeles houses in Brentwood last year for $19.6 million.

According to Forbes, the athlete became a billionaire this summer and is a co-owner of the clothing chain Unknwn, which has outlets in Wynwood and Akron, Ohio. Additionally, he has investments in businesses including Tonal, a startup home gym, and Blaze Pizza.

The Estates of Acqualina, by the Trump Group led by brothers Jules and Eddie Trump, the Estates is their third condominium development in Sunny Isles. Three single-family residences are part of the development, and prices varied from the mid $4 million range to $35 million for the penthouses.

We have been seeing a lot of Miami Heat basketball players, as well as former players, sell their Miami homes. Now we can add former center, Meyers Leonard to the list with his recent sale of a Bay Point waterfront home for $10.89 million.

Leonard and his wife, Elle purchase the home in February of this year for $7.78 million. The property is located at 741 Buttonwood Lane features 6,819 square feet of living space sited on 0.43 acres on an interior lot in a canal with direct access to Biscayne Bay.

Eduardo Marquez and his wife Gabriela are listed as the buyers for this property. Marquez is the President of Lucky Player Vodka (located in Miami). The mortgage for the buyers was provided by Citibank for $6 million.

Meyers Leonard, originally from Virginia, played high school basketball for 2 years then was drafted into the NBA in 2012. He was a first-round draft pick but 11th overall. He was traded from the Portland Trail Blazers to the Miami Heat in 2020 where he assisted the Heat to reach the NBA Finals for that year. In 2021, he re-signed another contract with Miami but ended up injuring his shoulder in January 2021.

In a recent Instagram post, Leonard stated on his future of the NBA, “I’m simply not healthy enough to play.” He also stated that he is looking forward to 2022 and what is in store for his career and family.

Anthony Leon “P. J.” Tucker Jr., NBA Star Forward for the Miami Heat recently rented a waterfront property located in Coral Gables.

The rental located at 25 Arvida Parkway, was last listed for $22,000 monthly. The waterfront home is located in the gated community of Gables Estates that sides to Biscayne Bay.

The property was built in 1968 and sits on 0.68 acres with 100 feet of Biscayne Bay water frontage. The open concept mid-century home features 7,343 square feet of living space with 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. Marble floors span throughout opening to floor-to-ceiling windows.

What makes this home so spectacular is the 2 grand living rooms, a formal dining room, and the spacious chef’s kitchen. The home also features a 3 car garage, a deck, pool, dock with a boat lift. The seawall has also been recently replaced. According to the listing, there is an application fee of $35,000 as well as acceptance by the community club.

The estimated worth of the home is listed at $30 million.

Cryptocurrency is heading our way! In a recent announcement, AmericanAirlines Arena will be changing its name to FTX Arena. FTX is a startup cryptocurrency exchange that started in Hong Kong in 2018 and as of 2020, it has been operating in the United States.

In 2019, AmericanAirlines stated that they would no longer have the naming rights to the arena leaving room for Miami-Dade County to negotiate the naming rights.

According to a Miami Herald report, during a county commission meeting on Friday, a tentative $135 million with a 19 year contract has been agreed to with FTX. This also means that the current name residents will no longer be in contract. This pending approval will be the crypto industry’s first leg in arena sponsorships. Also in the agreement, Mayor Daniella Cava received approval for a $90 million share to be allocated towards addressing income equality and gun violence.

The next step for FTX is approval from the NBA for the company’s branding to appear on networks, signage, stadium exteriors, etc. If the logo is not approved, FTX has the ability to withdraw their request at any time.

According to the South Florida Business Journal, there was a few who voted against the proposal; including Commissioner René Garcia concluding that the public did not get an advance notice about the proposal. A county resident also came forward stating, “cryptocurrencies tend to evade regulation and abet money laundering.”
