Rumor: LeBron James Makes Offer on $49.5M Gables Estates Home
Posted on by Lucas Lechuga
Rumors swirled earlier this afternoon that LeBron James had made an offer on a $40M waterfront home in Coral Gables. My sources tell me that the offer was made on a 20,862 square foot mansion located at 11 Casuarina Concourse in the Gables Estates neighborhood of Coral Gables. The 8 bedroom/11 bath/2 half bath palace sits on a 3.6 acre lot with 880 feet of water frontage and comes with a dock to accommodate a 150-foot yacht. The magnificent residence was previously listed for $49.5M before the listing expired on May 31, 2010. The home, which was purchased in July 1987 for 2,018,000, is currently owned by luxury auto dealer Alan Potamkin of Potamkin Auto Gallery.

Come on, Lucas….if in fact this “rumor” has any chance of being correct, why hasn’t any other media outlets (besides bleacherreport, not a necessarily credible source itself) picked up on it? If its true, or even maybe true, then this woukld be the most solid piece of evidence that LeBron is going to Miami. I hope you (and your sources) are right, but considering the secretive nature of the LeBron deal, it seems hard to believe that he would begin home-shopping prior publicly announcing his move to the Heat… especially with all the loose lips among those in your profession, who value nondisclosure agreements about as much as the paper they are written on.
That place could be a closet in the new mega mansion that is going up across the canal from that place at 1 Arvida Pkwy (check it out on google maps), its still under construction but that place has to be at least 50,000 square feet. It would also have the benefit of Pat Riley and Alonzo Mourning living on the same block (Riley owns 180 Arvida Pkwy and Zo has 33 Arvida Pkwy).
Most athletes have to sell their luxury purchases after they retire. I expect he will lose a minimum of five million on this purchase. He reminds me of the football player who made $50 million and just declared bankruptcy. He lives in northern Florida. Tied his money up in real estate deals. Real estate is a fools game.
I worked in this house off and on for several years up until 2004.
It is an awesome house and A. Potamkin is very very cool and down to earth with “workers”
when I rode my bike past the American airlines center this evening the news crews were setting up for his speech tonight. It’s a real big deal for the AA center
NOTHING COMPARES TO LOT #3 ON INDIAN CREEK ISLAND. ITS A BRAND NEW HOUSE NOT 10 YEARS OLD AND ASKING 60 MILLION. LEBRON SEE’S IT AND THERE IS NO WAY HE IS TAKING THIS GARBAGE… MARK MY WORDS

What’s $40M to a future billionaire? Espn is reporting already strongly that Miami is looking like his choice.
