Everglades on the Bay Officially Renamed Vizcayne

February 23, 2011 by Lucas Lechuga
Vizcayne

The 849-unit, two-tower, mixed-use development located at 244 Biscayne Blvd and 253 NE 2 St  in Downtown Miami has officially been renamed Vizcayne (comprised of Vizcayne South Tower condos and Vizcayne North Tower condos).  The name change, in conjunction with a multi-million dollar completion program, is an effort to rebrand the development and revitalize sales.  An official relaunch event is scheduled for next month where the public will be able to tour Vizcayne as well as decorated model units.

The name change is odd.

Did the old “Everglades” name have that have bad of a rep?

The name came from the old Everglades hotel that was on that site before.

Thanks I didn’t know it was that bad, then it’s good they re-branded it.

Agree that it should be renamed but the name itself is kind of stupid. Connotations to Vizcaya, which is odd.

Reminds me of the Fontainebleau Milton Apts (nestled in beautiful Sweetwater, overlooking the scenic 836 Expressway), which is still an amusing name but was much funnier when Hilton still owned the Fontainebleau.

I stayed at the (real) ‘bleau on my very first trip to Miami two decades ago. I always get a laugh when I pass the apartment complex with the same name. I wonder how many people have been duped over the years into renting at the Fontainebleau apartments rather than the luxury Miami Beach resort. (Ha ha.)

Looks like Vizcayne isn’t the only branding. Brickell Finiancial Center should be open this summer and will be called Brickell World Plaza.
